How do laws reflect values, morals and ethic of our society?

This is an extremely broad question as it is a theme&challenge of the syllabus. In terms of crime i think its best to think about what morals and ethics we hold towards certain crimes/criminals and how well our laws reflect these. For example, society holds values that young offenders should finish their education (whiich can reduce criminal behaviour) and to relect this value, the law focuses on rehabilitation for young offenders to assist in their education and in that sense it reflects the values, morals and ethics of society.
