Hey guys, I'm having trouble distinguishing between statute and common law, are you able to clarify and list examples for both. And any anecdotes to remember these

Statute Law is created by federal & state parliaments. Covers the general stuff about fairness and equity of all employees. Refer to Fair Work Act 2009.

Common Law is created by courts & tribunals. Generally they are more specific, and describe the basic rights & obligations of employees and employers in employment relationships. Refer to WH&S Act.
