I'm trying to find any legislation about the use of forensic DNA testing in the court, searched AUSTLII to no avail... any suggestions?

I'm doing a presentation on DNA testing for my Genetics subject, and I wanna show how many STRs are required to be admissible as evidence in Australian courts. (scientific jargon, dw)

The closest I know of is S. 353A (3A and 3D) of the Crimes Act (1900) NSW...

It allows for a qualified medical practitioner to take blood, hair, saliva samples and also that if someone is in lawful custody that no consent is needed.

Hey what a coincidence I did an assignment on this when I was in yr 11.... try

http://www.justiceaction.org.au/Framed/Iss31_40/Frmd_39/Frmd39_txt2.html

There is some info there on the the crimes (forensic procedures) bill which (don't quote me on this) passed into the crimes (forensic procedures) act 2000. You will get heaps of responses to search: crimes and forensic and procedures on austlii

*edit* just clicked the link on your above post and you have already found it... hope the article helps at least.

did someone say evidence act

:D
The Evidence Act (NSW) 1995 is the biggest pain in the arse. Especially when you have to write a 4000 word essay on s.114-116.

*raises eyebrows*

Nah it's beautiful... not as elegant as the sale of goods act.. but I like it

A bible for a uniform evidence law.. I think they did a good job

A 4000 word essay on s114-116 however sounds HOMICIDALLY BORING
