I'll just type the question first:

1. Using all the letters, how many different arrangements can be made from the word MATHEMATICS? (worth 2 marks)

My problem comes from the wording of the question. It says using all the letters. Does that mean, using every one of the 11 letters of the word disregarding the repetition of M, A and T?

I've seen this question before, but worded differently (e.g. how many words can you make from the word MATHEMATICS) and understandably you divide the total number of combos by 2!2!2!.

Considering it's worth 2 marks, my opinion is that you do divide by 2x2x2, but then again......

I find that in maths, quite often people have more trouble understanding what the question is asking rather than how to do it. It can be a PITA.
