Does anyone know why the trees that were on the library lawn have been cut down?

I've been away from uni for the past year and just came back this week and noticed they were gone.

I think the library lawn looked a lot better when they were there.

I think they should be replaced with statutes of John Howard, Peter Costello and Tony Abbott.

They were cut down because some kinda fungus or someshit was growing in the trees, making them weak and unsafe.
