hey guys,

Looking at the big picture, what are your long term plans/goals, once you've finished your degree? Anything you'd particularly like to accomplish before you die? :D

haha - looks like everyone wants to do a lil' bit of everything!

the poll question probably should read then:

"What do you FIRST want to do during the year after your graduation?" ;)

oh well... doesn't really matter i guess

Asquithian... did I ever thank you for convincing me to put ANU as my first preference? I am *so* glad I did, otherwise I would be going to newcastle for law... not that newcastle is bad, but nothing compared to anu :)

Only problem is I know its going to be alot harder... at the moment I am just looking to 'survive' first year...

I think it will be harder simply because the higher UAI cutoff... Its more competitive and therefore you essays ect. are being compared to a generally higher standard...

at least thats my theory anyway...

Ideally, I'd like to be offered a job as soon as I finish my honours year (2006)
or I might take a year off and just work part time somewhere before actually starting a "real" job

OK, I voted for "All (or some) of the above" because I am not sure of what I am going to do yet. It will probably be one of the following:

1. "Work in a job you particularly love or are good at" (Business).
2. "Travel" (America, hopefully live there).
3. "Pursue a sport/hobby/interest" (If I get good at playing my guitar I might start a band, or I will get serious about becoming an actor and move to America, or do Surf Life Saving/Surfing professionally).
4. "Do postgraduate studies @ uni" (Business).

Man, I am just full of dreams, aren't I:).

*Work in a job you particularly love or are good at.

*Travel (have always hoped I'd be able to travel around Australia one day - driving that is)

*Do postgraduate studies @ uni (looked into Post Grad studies in critical care/nursing - though it all depends on what I end up doing this yr - have sent all forms of for the Dip. Of Foundation Studies - if I do this then probably wont, if I end up at TAFE then maybe)

ok here goes...
well, when i first finish i would like to work in a practice for a year or two to get some experience. and while im working i would like to study "emergency care and treatment" that only very few vets in sydney have qualifications for. i would like to specialise in any of the following areas:
- digestive or urinary system (which i think are the most crucial body systems considering the amount of work they have to do every day)
- pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, ferrets) coz not a great deal is known about them (poor fragile little things)
- birds
- wildlife
so once im qualified in emergency care, i would like to start working in an emergency centre, specialising in any of the above.
during summer, i want to travel to asia and africa and work voluntarily with welfare associations to help with rescues, desexing, wildlife, etc.
eventually, i would like to open my own practice (i like the idea of being my own boss)
eventually, i would also like to do Masters or PhD
