ok here goes...
well, when i first finish i would like to work in a practice for a year or two to get some experience. and while im working i would like to study "emergency care and treatment" that only very few vets in sydney have qualifications for. i would like to specialise in any of the following areas:
- digestive or urinary system (which i think are the most crucial body systems considering the amount of work they have to do every day)
- pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, ferrets) coz not a great deal is known about them (poor fragile little things)
- birds
- wildlife
so once im qualified in emergency care, i would like to start working in an emergency centre, specialising in any of the above.
during summer, i want to travel to asia and africa and work voluntarily with welfare associations to help with rescues, desexing, wildlife, etc.
eventually, i would like to open my own practice (i like the idea of being my own boss)
eventually, i would also like to do Masters or PhD

WOW you have alot of direction in your life - i wish you all the best for your future

camp counsellor? ooh, you'll have so much fun doing that!

Just a few weeks ago, i was volunteering at a junior summer camp, and had the *BEST* time teaching 10-12yr kiddies how to make puppets!! :) they had so much fun with their puppets afterwards... so i can't wait to be a camp staffer next year!

That camp was near coffs harbour, but yeah, camp counselling is heaps good, wherever u go! Watch out for practical jokes though - the campers have the potential to pull some pretty good ones

I want to do all those things!
But I am sure in reality I will grab onto the first job I can find, and get stuck in a financial rut from there on in. Such is life. :(

Where's "Work in a high paying job and make alot of money"? (i'm serious, there is no option even close to that, and i'm sure there are more than a few people intending to do that)

Anyway i intend to work as an actuary (or something leading to that) for a year or two, then complete Part III and IV, then move over to Dubai where i'll be making 200K. I'll then get a loan and buy a Porsche 996, and start saving for my ski lodge in italy. :D

edit: but in reality, i'll probably fail actuarial studies... i really can't see myself studying the amount that i've heard people do... :(

i was considering putting that in actually... but then reconsidered. :)

'Coz ppl should actually like the work they do, or at least be well suited to it, and not just think about the money...
when u think about it, what good is all ur money and possessions once ur dead?

"Work in a job you particularly love or are good at."
(well, think about it - u could "particularly love" a job (whatever it may be) only becoz of the money... or the job u are "good at" may be high-paying ... so it's almost close!)

But there is a difference between being content with your job and "loving" it. IMO if you love your job, you would look forward to going to work everyday etc., but you can still be perfectly happy if you don't love your job (but yeh, doing a job that you dislike even for the money is a bad idea).

But you'll have had one hell of a life living it up with a Ferrari and mansions in different countries etc. And when you're dead, you can pass it on to someone else to enjoy.

edit: and you'd have to be "good at" a job to get it, so i don't think that that really counts.

true - you do have a point there :)

mmm... perhaps, for awhile (until the novelty wears off). But there's plenty of rich, successful people out there who 'live it up' and still aren't happy at the end of the day. Or they lose it all before they die (and basically have done all that work for nothing).

And once you're dead, you won't be around to see that 'someone' enjoy their inheritance, nor will you be able to remember the "one hell of a life" that you may have enjoyed. ;)

People who have less (materially), actually have more of what matters (and vice versa), it always seems to be the way...

I don't understand why people say stuff like "money doesn't by happinness". I mean, even if it doesn't, i'd sure as hell rather be happy with money than without it. :p

And once you're dead, you won't be around to see that 'someone' enjoy their inheritance, nor will you be able to remember the "one hell of a life" that you may have enjoyed.
So you're saying that you shouldn't do something unless you can remember it when you're dead? In that case we shouldn't be doing anything, cos what are we gonna remember when we're dead?
