I have lost my log book somewhere because I haven't touched it in a long time and can't find it.
My parents haven't written anything in it yet and I received my learner licence in March 2007.
Is it as easy as to request a new one at RTA or is the log book registered to you and applying for a new one will be tedious?

You can easily get new one, just be careful with your new entries.....they might think its fake if the book is shiny, and all the entries are done in the same pen, in the same writing, and looks like its been done on the same day!
