Love of success I suppose but I think my biggest motivation is getting into the course I want.

Isn't this just another thread about what motivates you, except we're dealing in absolutes now?

A bit of both I guess.
Kind of.. My thoughts were more approaching the fact that love of success could equal fear of failure, I mean you gotta love success so you can fear not getting it.. right?

I dont ever want to be fearful of failure.
I'll just do my best and thats it:) because I think regret is so much worse.

For me it was plain failing or doing bad (yr11) Then when i got that first taste of succcess (yr12 1st assessment block), its made me want it even more and work harder for it :)

Good question.

I heard education-researcher Andrew J Martin speak recently. He said he found five types of students:
  1. Success-seeking - aiming for Personal Bests and achieving them.
  2. Success-avoiding - underachieving so they don't stand out.
  3. Failure-avoiding - working to avoid failure, or finding/creating excuses.
  4. Failure-accepting - opting out.
  5. Happy-cruising - not concerned, not achieving much.
The good news is, you can get out of your pigeonhole and go taste the guano in another one.

 Anxious? AJM suggests meditation, exercise, whatever helps regain composure.

:uhoh: Not confident in yourself? AJM suggests joining a team or building up your permanent relationships.

He seems to be saying, start fixing your feelings or beliefs about yourself first. Then, set goals that are close enough and small enough for you to have successes. Like, I will finish question 2 tonight. Know the steps to those small successes and take them.
Well, it made some sense to me. :uhhuh:
