I know nothing about the scaling/calculation system so any help would be much appreciated, cheers :)

Doing low-scaling subjects may affect your UAI because some of them are "capped". But even in low-scaling subjects, as long as you are first, you can get 50/50.

Ok here we go:

scaling system is there to make everything fair for everyone. Since everyone does different subject, it's very difficult to put everyone on a same scale. But through scaling system, they can artificially achieve that effect.

Some subjects have really awesome scalings while others have some abysmal ones...but that's okay. The higher marks you get, the less affected you are. But it is important to note that: the higher marks you are, the relatively high scaling that you will be subjected to. That sums up all my points but let me explain in case you didn't comprehend that.

Here is an example:

if you got 67 aligned marks in maths, your scaled mark will be 49 BUT
if you got 76 aligned marks in maths, your scaled mark will be 63.

If you see the trend here, there is a significant difference between scaled mark whereas the difference in aligned mark is smaller. That shows that there is no lenear relationship between aligned mark and scaled mark. It's more like exponential actually.

Yep, definitely possible but moderately nailing your HSC will further increase that prospect.

So you want a UAI estimate with your current rank?

I reckon high 80s to low 90s is definitely possible considering your school rank and school's rank.

It wouldn't hurt to get higher though, right? :p

Yeah, try to keep your marks up as they are in HSC.

I suppose, but i don't see why i should destroy myself to get a UAI that i will not use, ill do my best, as i always try to do, but i wont stress myself to the max to do it.

With those marks, you're already looking at surpassing your aim. Good luck in Uni :)
