LOW UAI and want to transfer.....PLEASE HELP!! (1 Viewer)

aww man.........i have a porblem HUGE PEOBLEM
unfortunately i got a UAI of 58.55 2003, and i am currently studying business at latrobe university... i want to transfer ASAP to sydney to ANY university close to sydney...

so basically what should i do, i am completely lost...

get some straight HDs at latrobe then go thru UAC?

i know that's not very helpful, but getting good marks in your first semesters will help offset your UAI markedly...

maybe UWS will accept you

i have inside information for you
half of the UWS population consists of people from TAFE,
like they have not yet finished their Diplomas
they just did 1 year of TAFE and then apply to uws and uws accepts them into 1st year undergraduate course..
half the uni is filled with them ppls..

my friend was in the same situation.. her uai was 62 so she went to la trobe for a year, got some credits and distinctions and now she is at UNSW

uws isn't accepting mid year applications, though.

Basically you should try to do as well as you can this year at uni then apply through UAC in September to transfer to a Sydney Univerity. The better your marks are, the easier it will be to transfer as transfers are generally decided on 50% UAI and 50% Uni marks. I don't think you would have much chance applying mid term as there aren't many (or any) courses with such a low cutoff in Sydney. You really need to do well at Uni then apply at the end of the year.

Yeh distinction average is hard. But a credit average is usually good enough to transfer =).

hehe, one of the head dudes in my faculty reckons he'll take everyone out to dinner that gets 4 (or 3, depending on how many subjects ur doing) HD's
