So how is it compared to the likes to UNSW, USYD and UTS?
Taking into account Job Interviews, employment with the big 4 accounting firms?</SPAN>

I am doing a cadetship at PwC and attend Macq. A lot of the new grads i work with come from macq so i would say very good.

The commerce degree is well respected and from what i hear more challenging than UTS (and useful).

Hope this helps

UTS was founded as a TAFE so it technically seems not very appropriate to be compared with MQ, USYD or UNSW, at least at Finance, Accounting or Economics.

My m8 has studied at UTS for 2 sems then transfered 2 MQ. He said most of the units he took at UTS were not so challenging as at MQ (it's his own idea, maybe).

Macquarie is the best for accounting, we have a specialised degree in 'Professional Accounting'. So yeah go for macq mate.

I don't know about UNSW and USYD, but I know a little about UTS.

when I was taking a particular accounting subject this semester last year, our head lecturer who sets final exams went on a sick leave, so we had this Dr lecturer dude from UTS as a substitute.

Well that subject I took was notorious for its difficulty of final exam, and the substitute lecturer told us in one lecture that the final paper our head lecturer set was too long, and too hard, so he said he cut off 80% of the questions to lower down its difficulty (and I remember everyone sort of started clapping and shit when he said that). And I was also told by a mate that the subsitute lecturer even said he couldn't even solve some of the questions from the old paper. so I'm pretty sure AT LEAST 1 subject MACQ beats UTS in its difficulty at least in an exam.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing for us MACQ ppl??

There's no such thing as the big 3 universities. It's the big 4 universities: USyd, UNSW, UTS and MQ.

From what I hear MQ's B Comm is better than UTS's B Business, but only marginally.

Decent grades, work experience and interesting extra curricular activities will be what the big 4 consulting firms look for.

They treat all grads from the big 4 unis the same, more or less.

From what I hear, UTS is a tafe. LOL. That is the sum of my 'other uni hating'. Go MQ!!
No one cares about what uni you studied at, for those jobs, providing you are studying accounting, pass the selection criteria and interview well - you are in with a fighting chance. If I was hiring, the uni you went to would be irrelevant, I would play each ball on its merits or hire from Mac (lol). Think about extra curricular activities and other work experience - that high school job at Maccas might be vital if you can justify what you learnt well!

It was indeed a TAFE, man. Of course no one is likely to give a shit to check what uni u studied at or how excellent u were at academic field (with reference to the case, it is ur academic transcript) , but if u try to compare one to another, criteria such as history and so on...must be counted in.

Mq has a good reputation for commerce, and has one of the largest sized commerce faculties (size matters, because this equates to funding and resources availability etc)
