What are the Strengths and Weaknesses of these theories?

Classic Scientific
Strengths
- Scientific approach to problem solving
- Planning/Controlling as fn of management
- Introduced careful worker recruitment (screening, interviews etc)
Weaknesses
- workers treated as androids
- Div. of Labour – created resentment, monotony, absenteeism, high staff turnover
- Quality problems

Behavioural
Strengths
- Forced management to reassess the view of workers as androids
- Contribution to leadership, motivation and communication
Weaknesses
- No unifying framework of management (addresses only part of the structure of management)

Political
Strengths
- Contribution to understanding of power, conflict and organisational design
- More effective tools to achieve goals
Weaknesses
- Focus on just one aspect of management
- Ignored internal/external variables that affect management framework

Just adding on to what ^ said: Classical Scientific improves productivity by 200% (or just increase productivity)

I personally find Political theory stupid :| Oh gee, he has power, and so does he. What revelation! Wow, we can manage a multimillion dollar business now.

Contingency and System theory are the only ones that relatively ... acceptable to me. Okay completely off the tangent...am getting very bitter towards business :|
