we finished our trials, and my teacher gave me an extra assessment:

By the end of WW2 we saw projects like the Manhattan were significant in changing our nature of both was and peace. Assess the singificance of the Manhattan Project to society including the following sections:
-einstein's contribution to the theory
-heidelberg's development of the atomic theory
-the nuclear reaction formula
-critical mass
-mass defect

any help or tips on what 2 do will be appreciated

einsteins theory of relativity showed the interchangeability of mass and energy: E=mc^2. he also predicted that nuclear fission of heavier elements will result in a release of energy as matter is converted 2 energy

never heard of heidelberg, sorry

nuclear reaction formula can b used 2 describe nuclear fission? the manhattan project allowed scientists 2 better understand the distribution of daughter products? not really sure how manhattan project implicates nething bout reaction formula

through various investigations, the critical mass, the min. mass required 2 sustain a nuclear chain reaction, of uranium 235, plutonium 239 etc were determined. ways of implementing this in atomic bombs were also developed... both macmillan and jacaranda have good descriptionis heissenberg of germany at the same time believed the critical masses required were 10 times bigger than reality, 1 of the reasons the nazi program never took off.

not sure bout exact connections btween manhattan project and mass defect but teh fission bomb utilises the principle that binding energy btween nucleons released is responsible 4 the mass defect in atoms. as heavier atoms hav lower binding energy or less mass defect, fission in2 lighter atoms towards the middle range of atomic mass requires an increase in binding energy , hence more energy is released.... as an explosion in the case of teh bomb

edit: 4 impacts on society just talk about the devastating power of teh bomb, threat humanity etc , scientists reactions are good as well.
