Mao's Last Dancer Discovery Related Text??? (1 Viewer)

Hi
Just wondering if Mao's Last Dancer would be a good related text to use for discovery?
I do Advanced English and my prescribed text is the reality TV series 'Go Back To Where You Came From' and I thought that because the people in both texts are immersed in different cultures it would be easy to compare haha
Otherwise do you have any other related texts that would be better?
