So who is marking your major work....recently my class has been told the Board of Studies will be coming to our school to mark our work. Im a little scared because of the fact that they know who is marking the work, instead of just being a number like everyone else.

Most city schools have their works packed up and marked at the marking centre. All photography, digital, video and that stuff gets sent to the marking centre in Sydney. For many of the schools in NSW (I'm sure all the country schools get this), a panel of markers are assigned to a region eg Lower Riverina (Wagga to Albury to Deni) and visit all schools and mark their works.

yeah...i know, but its still nerve racking.
well they (my teachers) reckon that your marks don't go up much from trials... so get ur arse into gear and get your work as good as you can for your trials and there will be no need for worrying - because any finishing touches after the trials will only increase your marks ;)

Being in the North West region, the markers come to our school. Our works and VAPDs are just locked up and we are not aloud to touch them until the markers come. Well that is what they did last year, but not the year before. I think they will be coming to our school again this year.

Your teacher/teachers will make your work for your INTERNAL school assessment i.e it is worth 40% of our school mark at my school.
Then the BOARD of STUDIES marks them, be it they come to your school, or you pack it up, a truck collects it and they are marked at Homebush Olympic place (or around there in sum huge convention hall or sumthing). That is worth 50% of your EXTERNAL mark. So all up its really worth 45% for us (my school)

How is everyone going?

the truth about marking

most schools have an exhibition where your teachers usually mark your work and an independant marker also comes in to your school to help your teachers mark your work. this gives you your school based mark. but then after it is due -the 28th- you pack it up and send it to homebush or where-ever and an external marker will mark it. this gives you 50% of your non-school based mark.
this is truth because my teacher is a senior HSC marker and has been for 15 years. she has drilled the dates into us so much i could tell you them in my sleep!!
i hope this clarifies somethings for everyone and so that you dont get confused anymore then you already seem to be !!
good luck to all see you at art express!!!
