try multiplying the two fractions first and then rationalising.

i multiplied and i ended up with

4 - (root 10) / 1 + (root 10)

You have to rationalised the denominator first for both of them then times them together. You can post up this question in the maths forum where latex has been used commonly.

why can't you multiply and then rationalise? won't you end up with the same thing anyway?

The answer is 5(root 10) - 14 / 9. And i did rationalise the denominator for both of them but when i try to multiply the answers i get weird results ): .. and i will post in other section next time thx too

lol i got: - 14 - 5(root 10) / 9

so i must've made a mistake wth the sign somewhere
