yes z=3 is undefined..........its out of range so you dont have to do anything for z=3

ahh so getting negative roots is correct?

and one more thing for question 2 ii, is it true we have one horizontal inflexion points at x = 0 and two minimum turning point at x = 5 and 2?

yeah its correct.....you dont have to draw anything for z=3..........just write its out of range

when z = 1 is it right to have a = +/- root 3 and b = +/- 2 root 3?

it just means the ellipse goes +root 3 to the right and -root3 to the left from the center

and described it, basically saying it ina sentence, what the shape is, and what the co-ordinate is and what the equation is. that should describe it, that's how the book does it in an example.
