Hi,

Going to be doing either MATH1131 or 1141 for first semester engineering. Just saw that there are a whole heap of lecturers for the first and second parts of the semester. I can only assume they have their specialty in that certain area of math they're going to be teaching. I was just wondering which lecturers are the 'best' but I guess that depends on personal preference and such but just a list or something of the qualities of known lecturer would be helpful to the community. I'll be doing 1141 most likely but also for the individuals doing 1131 the input would be greatly appreciated. The lecturers as course:

MATH1131: (Weeks 1-4,5-12)

- Dr DD Angell,Mr M Pahor

- Prof A Weston,Prof F Sukochev,Dr A Coster

- Dr T Britz,Apro J Murray

- Mr M Pahor,Mr PG Brown

MATH1141: (Weeks 1-4,5-12)

- Dr D Potapov,Sci MG Cowling

- Apro IR Doust,Prof WK Schief

Also for tutorials, I know that there are no names put down because lots of individuals like to have a specific tutor and choose to go to their favourite instead of what they're actually enrolled into.

Thanks

If you do MATH1141, I would recommend Doust and Schief (well, mainly Schief). Potapov's accent is thick and I always fell asleep in Cowling's lectures.

No, you can't do this. The role is marked and your name will only be in the tutorial you're enrolled in. Also, you have to do your class tests in your assigned tutorial otherwise it may not be counted.

I really preferred Potapov and Cowling, they always provide more insight into the topic and their presentations aren't in monotone. Might be just me but. :/

Cowling is pretty good. I haven't had Popatov yet though.

Angell/Pahor and Pahor/Brown are amazing, either one is fine.
