You don’t need this when the question is obviously not dealing with vectors, but distances/ lengths between points. So there’s no need to specify with such notation . If it was on the complex plane hypothetically, I think use of the moduli signs would be better suited in that sense

Why have you made Fx=0? F in the x direction equals the force of static friction.

Thanks for pointing that out. But if we rearrange we get f_s=Fcos\theta, which is F_x=f_s. I set F_x (supposed to be net horizontal force) equal to zero because the question is asking for minimum tension force required. So it would be the Tension force equal to frictional static force plus an amount that can get as close we like to zero.

I will come back to it again tomorrow. I am definitely doing something wrong if the textbook and you agree with the same answer.

guys i feel so under confident in math, i got my exams back and got top 3 rank in adv and ext, but i still feel so stupid, i was doing my tutoring poly exam and it wasn’t even that bad(i could have aced it last year but i genuinely forgot how to do it so i did a trig identies quiz and i couldn’t do half of that either and i feel so fucking dumb its actually fucking pissing me tf pff because i want r1 so bad

Well depending on your school a top 3 rank could be insane, like a top 3 in a top 20 school is really freaking good. Also dont worry about your tutoring tests, they always do make some bs hard questions no can get and generally always above the HSC in terms of difficulty. Confidence in math can only be gained through practice and past papers, If you really feel like you are bad, you could always go to thsc and do top selective papers to see how good you actually are against the brightest students in the state.
