The Federal government has increased med student places by over 80% in the last 3 years! Without ensuring adequate training positions, infrastructure, funding and organisation for internships, funding for specialisations and training staff.
What makes it worse is that most state governments and state based medical training boards have not guarenteed internship after 2012! Leaving many medical graduates in limbo and without the ability to specialise nor let alone gain compulsory internship to progress!

"AMA (NSW) is holding a MASS MEETING OF MEDICAL STUDENTS AND JUNIOR DOCTORS THROUGHOUT NSW on Saturday 1 November 2008 at 11.00am in Bradfield Park, North Sydney (Kirribilli) - across from the Olympic Pool/Luna Park.
This meeting is to discuss issues that surround the increases in medical graduate numbers over the coming years which include:-
Reduced clinical supervision
-Less face to face teaching time
-Not enough intern places
-Not enough specialty training places
-Increasing pressure on junior doctors to be the clinical supervisors and teachers of medical students and other junior doctors as the system is overloaded and demand is increased
THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IMPACTS ON ALL MEDICAL STUDENTS AND RMOS NOW!!!!!!
NSW is one of the only states that does not yet have a plan of action. To fix this we need a big crowd (with the help of media attention on the day) to put this on the top of the government and colleges agenda. It is an open event and family and friends are welcome.
Transport is via busses to North Sydney Station (with a short downhill walk towards Luna Park), trains to Milsons Point, or via metered parking and parking stations scattered around the area (Kirribilli).
