So.. I'm going to Melbourne with some uni mates for 2 weeks in early Feb.
What are some good things to do/see? Any recommended pubs/bars/clubs?
Cheers

shopping: city for myer, dj's, visit every single little lane because they're filled with dozens of beautiful boutiques, collins st, and all those other streets i forgot the names of.
Chadstone is a waste of time - think bondi junction westfield meets parra westifeld.. can find these stores in sydney so they're nothing spesh.
i heard the clubs in crown casino are good.. that place is a must see, easy to spend a whole day in there.
and ofcourse norton street to pick up italian sugar daddies and you have to go to ... oh crappppppp whats the name.. it starts with B... bertoluccis? it will come to me :)

perhaps ask our fellow students from our other campus to meet up with you and show you the hot spots at night - mr now-former-president did that and had a wicked time :)

Depends wat ya want to do in melbourne. Tonnes of good bars and clubs in the cbd area, down bourke st and all.

Shopping is also good around the city and as maidenchyna said, make sure you go down all the side streets. Also, there is a direct factory outlet opening up today at Southern Cross station.

oh yeah, the markets! how could i forget...

Victoria markets on the weekend (a bit like a cleaner paddy's market), i bought three pairs of jeans there for $200, three pairs of shoes for $100, and a whole lot of other random stuff...

St. Kilda isn't that interesting because the wharf was the main attraction, that's kinda not there any more....................... if you have the time it'd be a good "touristy" thing to do.

I can't remember the other markets but there are heaps

OMG I went there in November last year to see Lano and Woodley's final show, and I fell in love with the place!

I didnt have much money to shop and stuff, but I spent hours just wondering around Queen Vic Markets (i mostly ate fruit and veg the whole wk, and those yummy donuts), getting lost, trying to work out the streets lol (easier than sydney), walking around the museums and stuff....if your a student, you can get into most of the museums for free! And you can easily spend hours just browsing them!

When i went, i went to that 50years thing , and saw a sign for the casino saying $2 fish and chips from 3-7pm. NOw im not a casino person or something, but i thought yeah ok check it out. OMG the serving was soo huge, i didnt have to eat any dinner at all! It was stacked full of chips and good amout of fish. Sure it was meant to lure pple to play the pokies and shit, but i couldnt do that shit.

When I graduate at the end of this year, well acutally in June we start applying for all the graduate nursing positions and shit, and Im going to apply for Melbourne ones! I am so in love with that place!

And why not move, they say 1200 pple are moving to Brisbane every week from down south, so why not move away from all the growing problems in Brisbane....Ive spent my whole live up here, and want to move away from here. Sure I want to keep in touch with the family, but i need to mvoe! Brisbane is easily 2hrs away so i can just fly up every 2months or so.
