they're great.

those are just tracks off their new album.

you should just watch rage.

they have plenty of good metal bands on.

at around 3am they play a good half hour of just metal.

yep van halen is awesome.

well was........too much alcohol and drugs abuse and now the dude can barely play.

but in his prime he was amazing.

van halen was considered metal back in the day. or atleast heavy rock. hot for teacher is an awesome song.

jesus christ this thread is fucking shittastic

fuck off the ill nino, in flames (bar their first cd, which is decent), children of bodom, caliban and cradle of filth

nile is a decent start; from there, go on to cryptopsy, necrophagist, gorguts.

arsis are also an excellent melodic death band, but with a lot of black metal influence. also check out psycroptic and anaal nathrakh.

fr actual black metal (not children of bodom or cradle of filth), listen to; xasthur, leviathan, darkthrone, burzum, sadistik exekution, astriaal

godflesh is the only 'industrial' metal you need

listen to black sabbath.

I don't listen to much metal but Black Label Society, Mushroomhead & Megadeth are the only ones I can think of that haven't been mentioned.

Melodic: Iron Maiden, Seraphim, Thy Majestie, Running Wild (can't go wrong with pirate metal)

Rebel meets Rebel may be an interesting country/metal sound, definitely give it a try at least

Breed 77 (metal with a tinge of spanish/flamenco :))

Nightwish are power metal, you liked them I think?

I'm not a huge metal fan but have been getting into power metal/symphonic metal lately.

Dragonforce, Within Temptation, Wintersun are pretty similar to Nightwish.

Naglfar, Opeth, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Norther, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom are some bands I've been recommended by friends.

Can't go past Tool as well.

Personally I can't get into any heavy metal/black metal, just love the instruments in power and symphonic metal.

yeah judas priest are the shit =]]]] ive got heaps of their cds

if you like power metal give 'iced earth' a go (tho dont judge them by the song 'when the eagle cries'). if you're looking for a quick way to preview all these bands singles just stick the names in youtube ;D

Come on people, wheres the cheese? Power metal needs a bit more of a representation here. Blind Guardian at least deserves a mention. Theyre newer stuff is much more symphonic and power metal-like but theyre older work is much more thrashy, so there might be something in there you like. Usually takes a while to grow on you though.

And if you're interested you should give the site last.fm a try. It's great for discovering new bands no matter the genre. When i first discovered metal i knew only 3 bands i liked. Once i started using that site, i knew about 20 more within a week or 2 :D
