hahahahahah, what the fuck is that all about?

It wouldn't really make good business sense to develop it and then give it away for free, at least not given the Microsoft way :)
actually i was reading about a tactic one guy said microsoft used for over a decade. it was to give away free versions of stuff so people get a taste of their product and use it after. the articl game good examples aswell

Definitely, but I'm sure if they need to do that anymore. It might have been a good idea back then to build interest, but these days I think Microsoft products generally sell (or pirate) themselves.

.Implementing either RAID array is very expensive due to the fact that you only have half of the entire hard drive space available to you. This is because all data is duplicated in both scenarios, thus splitting the entire capacity in half..

i thought if u have 2 Raid drives , the computer just sees them as one drive and u have double the storage of one drive

err... that's cause murf didn't really answer your question.

raid 0 = stripping (more performance, same size)
raid 1 = mirroring (backup drive, 1/2 size)

there are also other raid combos like raid2, raid 10, raid 5, raid 0+1, etc...

hello from vista!

man this is slow... I hope performance improves or alot of people will be have to get computer upgrades.

i'm on an athlon 1.1Ghz, 480Mb ram, 9600SE

and vista crawls... windows skip when i'm dragging them.

edit:

and the new (blury) graphics effects do nothing but hurt your eyes and make you dizzy from motion sickness... :/

this is a far cry from the smooth MacOSX interface.

This just in, MS operating systems different to MacOSX! :)

In other news, I've read a lot of people talking about video driver issues, and have seen some talk of people creating their own (or doing some tweaking) to smooth things out, perhaps it's a compatibility/driver issue of some description?

Remember its only beta 1, Beta 2 will be alot better.

It runs smoothly on mine (P4 3.4Ghz; 1GB ram; 256mb graphics)

Love the transparent menu bars!

the transparent menu bars are ok....
But my main compaint is that they over use the fadein/fadeout on windows. I mean, in real life do things fade in/out of view?!!?! damn it is irratiating.

and why did they get rid of "my network places" from almost everywhere?!!?

I tried that. Didn't work though for some odd reason (the multiboot). It's making me motion sick anyways (like someone else mentioned). I hope the real version doesn't move as much as the Beta version :S
