Is there a set minimum pay per hour for under 16s in Australia? Please tell me. I have a part time job and I think I'm being paid very little. I can't find anything on google, so I thought I'd turn to here. TIA.

That sounds so little... I thought 18s were meant to get over 10 dollars?

i'm 19 and got $16 an hour. i'm guessing it should be around $13 average if you're 18 or under.

minimum age to work is 14 years 9 months i believe

basically fast food = slave labour
retail = bit better
somewhere nice = yeah hard to find a job like that but it pays

18's should get around 14~16 an hour

17's anywhere from around 10~13 id say ( this is just dumb retail like nightfill at woolleys or so)

im 17 nearly 18 and get 11.80 toys r us night fill

if your under 18 and dont like your pay, take it up to the employer and they can probably find another man, and you can find another job
you get hired when your under 18 if you have two arms and two legs XD (i.e lack of skills)

minimum wages for awards, not so sure if they are going to exist any longer, sinc e AWA's are the trendy way to go now with employers

young employees dont know their rights, employers like flexibility ohhh which brings low pay (maybe workplace option in legal studies was actually useful)

know a mate who gets paid 19 dollars an hour odd, whos 17 and a half at some dvd packin place, he knew how to get the job so yeah haha part time basis too, couple of shifts a week

That is to leave school and work full time. There is no minimum for part time jobs.

At 17 the average is $11/hr casual. At 18 the average is $13/hr casual. Depends on where you work etc.

Trainees get paid shit, esp. clerical trainees.

Beg to differ. Maybe there's no general minumum age that is set state-wide, but you'll find many companies and stores that will only hire people who are over __ years. (You need to be sixteen to work at my local JB HIFI, for example.)

Well, that is the law. Stores can set whatever policy they want.
