Minimum stay for casual job? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

Just wondering what you think would be the minimum number of months you should work at a place (as a casual), in order to be able to write it as a reference. 6 months? 8? At least a year? At the moment I'm in a bit of a situation as I don't know if I can (due to some issues) stay any longer at my work.

Yeah I've been wondering that too. I always thought a year to be on the safe side...at least that's what all the pharmacy assistant jobs I've been looking at say if they want any experience: "must have a minimum year's experience" *cringe* I'm approaching 6 months

I'd say 6 months is long enough to get a reference.

6 months isn't bad but a year is always better.

In terms of using a job for a reference, you can ask your boss after any period of time, I would assume.
