Ive got heaps of stuff on the Minoan economy!
* by the way watch my spelling, its horrible! But my facts are good:)

Palace economy:
The Minoans were agriculturalists and traders. They depended on their economy on cultivation of wheat, olives, grapes and later barley. The minoans had several industries; textile, pottery (which thery were renowned for), metal-work and there was a famour purple dye industry at Zakros. They also had a perfume industry.
The palaces are believed to be the centre of economic trade and some scholars believe that this is so due to the large paved courts which were fitting for a public market place. Futhermore this may be true because the palaces had common features of vast store rooms ie. magazines and in the first palatial period there were many koullouras found. There were also so many pithoi jars located all over the place. The palaces may have also controlled overseas trade as well as internal (sorry i have no evidence to prove this).
Knossos seems to be the centre of their ecomony, also the Linear A is found commonly and generally always hass stuff about administrative records!

Trade:
The minoans were leading sea trades (this is according to the ancinet historian Thucydides section 1.4 of 'The Peloppenisian War'.
It is believed that they traded throughout the Mediteranian and the Asian Minor, even more they extended theri trade to Egypt (some Australian researchers found their fresco methods their).
Exported to:
* pottery
* lead and bronze figurines to southern Greece and the Agean islands
* gold cups to southern Greece
* gold and silver vessels to Mycenea and Thera
* Pottery to Cyprus
Imports
* Copper from Sardinia
* Amber from BRITAIN! wow (there guys got around)
* silver form Attica
* Emery to Naxos
* Metal from Messenia
* copper ingots from Cyprus
* tin, ivory and lapis lazuli from Leveant and Anatolia
* gold from egypt (and there is other stuff)
* linene, stone perfume jars and beads from Egypt

It is believed that theMinoans establised trading parteners with Melos, Keos, rhodes, Kythera, Thera, Miletos and Anatolia (i think also Egypt).

The Minoans according to ancinet text (Homer 'The Odessy', Herotuts and Thucydides) say that had a thalassocracy!

I could right other stuff but its just detail..... hope this is enough if you need more pithc me back! Michon :wave:
