is this worse than the Intel Pentium M Processor 740 (1.7GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)???

and does anyone know its real specs i cant find it

The XP-M 2200+ is clocked at 1.67Ghz, just under the Pentium-M 740. However, the Pentium-M will be a better performer due to its highly optimised and efficient architecture. My laptop has a 1.4Ghz Pentium-M, and it easily outperforms my desktop's Celeron D 2.4Ghz because it's so much more efficient. Intel owns the mobile market at the moment and that's because the Pentium-M is simply the best chip you can currently get for a laptop.

I would tend to disagree, the architecture of the Athlon is such that it will perform similarly to a pentium without needing the clock speed. An Athlon rated at 2200+ should perform similarly to a pentium rated at 2.2ghz. This is due to differences in the architecture and as such, differences in how the CPU's work. However, I would expect the Pentium M to give you more battery life then the Athlon as the Athlons use more power.

The Pentium-M is not a Pentium 4. The M has a far more efficient architecture than the Pentium 4. A Pentium-M will outperform Mobile Athlons at the same clockspeed any day. And at the moment, I think AMDs are slightly more expensive because they're far rarer. Intel owns the mobile market currently and it has no plans to raise prices and possibly lose its biggest growth market.

If I go AMD for laptops, I'd go for a Turion.. otherwise I prefer Pentium Ms. Pentium 750s are becoming very affordable now, even the 760s (2.0GHz) are coming down fast.

damn haha, i bought a LifeBook S2020 with Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2200+, 512MB DDR 266, 60GB HDD, 13.3" TFT, with a 16MB Radeon IGP Shared Video weighing under 2 kg... for a price of $1499...


before i heard how shit this processor just was....

no games for me

If gaming is concerned, I'd be far more worried about that shared memory 16MB Radeon rather than any CPU a $1,500 laptop could bring.
