Some of the things you could talk about are: rationing, bombing, propaganda, censorship, conscription, specific effects on women and financial impacts.

Rationing: Systems were put in place to redirect much of the civilian's necessities and resources to the war effort, starvation / lack of medicine for treatment of illnesses were rampant. Millions of Russians died from starvation during the period of Operation Barbarossa and much of the war, as Stalin pursued any measures at any cost, even the deaths of his own citizens.
Propaganda: Widespread use of propaganda. Even the Russian Orthodox Church was allowed to reopen under Stalin's orders to help boost morale.
Censorship: The Soviet citizens were shielded from an "inconvenient truth", as information regarding the war and it's progression was controlled by government censorship.
Bombing: Civilians throughout the USSR endured mass bombing campaigns from the Axis powers, causing civilian loss of life, damage of infrastructure and resources hence furthering the depletion of morale.
Conscription: Compulsory military service was introduced, hence contributing to further economic problems as most of the workforce were conscripted.
Effects on Women: The conscription of much of the Soviet workforce meant that women were required to step into the labour force, as well as running households. This augmentation of the work element of women's daily lives resulted in a drastic depletion in quality of life etc. Whilst many women worked in the labour force prior to WWII, many were forced to double their shifts to make up for the lost workforce.
Financial impacts: Civilian-civilian / informal trade was disrupted through the establishment of government control over civilian industry. Household incomes depleted due to conscription etc. Banks halted the lending of money meaning that financially-weak families / businesses had no alternative.

Blurted most of this out from the top of my head but these are some broad important points that you could consider & elaborate on, categorizing them into social / economic impacts. Make sure you research / seek further evidence in the context of the USSR regarding the impacts of these etc. These are mostly just pointers that you could elaborate on further.

You should always remember 3 important parts when writing an essay introduction, body, and conclusion.
