Id guess only those with motorola mobile phone tools will be able to help me but meh its worth a try!!

OMFG im so frustrated ive been trying to get my MPT working for hours and hours cz i need to get all my shit off my phone and onto my comp..

Whenever I try to plug my phone into my computer (via USB) It gets so far as the Installing your phone, please wait... then it gets to the end.. but then i get this message "mobile phone tools will not work properly without a mobile device installed. do u wanna install one now?
so i click yes... then it goes back to detecting ur phone...
then back to the "mobile phone tools will not work properly without a mobile device installed."
and it just goes round and round in circles...
Ive tried re-installing the software, switching USB ports and cleaning the connectors..
arrrgh and it just goes round and round in circles!

arggh any help would be greatly appreciated!

I got mine working pretty easily by USB and by bluetooth.

USB is assigned a COM port, so maybe manually try all the COM ports.

That happened to me...switched USB from front to back and it was fine after that.

Maybe leave it plugged in and reset, then try it again? I seem to remember doing something like that.

If you use bluetooth, do u bypass the USB? Cuz if it is my cord thats stuffed then I could work it via bluetooth

do you have a bluetooth adapter?

cause if you planning on getting a cheap adapter (like me) it could be a great pain to install.

MPT only works with Widcomm Bluetooth drivers, and Widcomm only let companies who pay them money to use their driver. As a result cheap adapters aren't licenced to use the driver.

To get around this you need to get a cracked version of the Widcomm drivers, which will take some finding.

to guarentee bluetooth will work you need a motorola bluetooth adapter ($80), expensive compared to the $20 ones on ebay.

have you updated it to the latest version? The one they give you on the CD is usually pretty out of date.

yeah, i remember my multimedia studio froze a bit as well. But it worked eventually, not sure what prompted it to work.

But i'm not sure anymore since with bluetooth you bypass MPT.

I have an ISSC (IVT) Bluetooth dongle that came with BlueSoleil. I would like to get MPT working via Bluetooth. I have googled the 'Net for Widcomm drivers, but a re a little confused about the many different versions.

I have downloaded patched versions 1.4.3.4, 4.0.1.700, 4.0.1.2101 and 5.0.1.801 so far. What is the difference between these versions or otherwise known as stacks?!

The MPT CD includes a copy of Widcomm 4.01.2500, which does not support the ISSC dongle. Can I simply edit the bteusb.inf file to add my adapter's VID & PID (ISSC description already in the file), or do I need the patch? So far I have not found a patch for this version. :(

Any help or advise would be appreciated!
