Depends on what position, and what company. Your questions are so vague that its really difficult to nail down what it is you want.

Will you get a job? Probably. Jobs rely more than where you got your degree from, usually good marks, extracurricular activities, work experience and how well you interview are going to be just as important and more pressing factors.

Will you get a job which pays 100,000 straight out of uni if you go to X uni doing Y course? Probably not with a generic Accg/Mktg degree, maybe ACST or specialised areas but those would be reliant on your success in your course and other issues, internships, industry links etc.

acst grad does NOT get 100k straight out. its such a lie. 80k max if you are lucky, a lot less if you are a grunt in big 4 (work work and shitty pay).

100k only possible if you work in IB and thats bonus included. if your into high starting salary do dentistry or med.

I hate these types of threads, they always end up being so lame.

First of all, for undergraduate studies, just about every university in Australia (including Western Syd) will provide a fairly robust and high quality commerce program. It is true that in some professions like Law, it can be good to have the prestige of USYD, but turning out commerce graduates (and in particular accounting graduates) is like cooking frozen pizza in an oven. Theres not much that can go wrong. You have a set curriculum that is denoted by the AASB, and aside from some minor variations in electives, most course offerings are similar.

At a postgraduate level some universities do stand out more than others, but to say something like UNSW has a better business school than macquarie is just ridiculous. In the same way as the MGSM is not really related to the EFS division at mac, the AGSM at UNSW is a separate institution that means nothing for someone looking to choose an undergraduate degree. Its a bit like thinking that buying a toyoto is better than buying a holden because toyota has a formula one racing team, and holden only has a v8 supercar team (although this is probably not a worthy comparison of MGSM and AGSM).

Choose your degree for reasons of practicality. Transport, which uni do you think has a better lifestyle, what other extra curricular opportunities are available? Im not going to say either way because its up to every individual. USyd is often known for having a good campus life, but it is also more expensive, may not be close to your home if you live in the north, and can be annoying to commute to (seeing as you can drive to macquarie for a small fee).

So the majority of the advice here is not really hitting the nail on the head. Ive not heard of a single employer discriminating against a candidate based on their university. Its usually marks, character, and other achievements or experiences that will land you a job

stop spoonfeeding him and telling him to go do some proper research....by proper it doesnt mean going to uac and comparing the shinny cut offs and extravagent course requirments.

unsw is the best for accounting, and if ur commited to the cause travelling wont b an issue.

Maq is really well known in the business world for its accounting, but does lack access to qaulity big four banks and hardly ever u will find any REALL QAULITY cadetships/internships, mind you any experience will put u ahead of your peers assuming cetrius paribus for ur marks. Furthermore many banks have more legal and less traditional bank aspects to it....this is where the USYD course comes to light. take it from me i come from a familiy of accountants

therefore all in all it really doesnt make a difference where you go. but if i was u i would go to unsw cause they realli are the "all rounders of accounting"

but on a personal basis i think ur gay for even doing accounting, grow some balls and do finance or economics.

no offense but you are just so full of it. at end of the day it DOES NOT matter where you got your accounting degree from. I know plenty of people from Mac scoring grad jobs with the big 4s, banks, and all sorts of financial institutions. Employers will not pick a particular person simply because his/her uni.

bottom line, if you cannot score a job at end of your degree, then it is YOUR problem, and dont blame it on the fact you got your degree from Mac.

PS. nice going with your jargon, really shows you know what you are talking about.

How does doing finance or economics have anything to do with growing balls?

Yeah, good job at a massive wall of text, all of which just reaffirmed what has already been said.

You're a real godsend.

Yes but usually due to dodgy ingredients and not a dodgy oven :)
