Hey,

I've got to enter in my uni choices soon and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which uni/course is the best for web site design and/or multimedia??

Thanks.

Hey Treybor
nice that you want to do website design!!! Good on ya!! :D

If you r willing 2 go to uni and complete an IT course and picking subjects related to multimedia and website design, then go for it!!!:D Yeah mainly computing and IT courses would offer it. I heard UNSW offered B. Digital Media, but with a very high UAI from what i remember.

If you are not then maybe a TAFE course might be a better alternative because it is much cheaper than uni (in fact, it would be possibel to do it for free), and you can get a qualification within a year. They teach CSS, HTML, Flash, photoshop etc. Its designed to get you on your feet, then its up to you to build your portfolio to show off your skills!! Should check the TAFE campus for more info

Well that's my opinion!!

Anyways good luck in it!!:D

You're probably better off doing Digital Media 'cause it'll teach you even BEYOND web site design and frankly, website design you can teach yourself. I taught myself website design really and many of the famous website designers were self-taught too. If you want a degree, probably best do Digital Media. If not, there is a college (I can't remember it's name though - sorry) that specialises in web design, game design and 3D graphics. You probably should ask your career advisor (should you have one) about it. It gives you at least a diploma so you won't be there for 3 years. 2 years max and you can be out and about, working.

i want to do digital media as well and the UAIs not terribly high - 85.75 if i remember correctly
but the thing is theres not only IT and Comp. Sci. courses that do web design - i think theres also pure design courses doing it so you might wanna find out before the offers are made

the 2005 UAI for digital media was like 90 something, hopefully in 2007/8 it won't be around that lol, hopefully it will be still low like around 85 ish

Digital Media pushes how you use website and multimedia. The things you will be doing are short videos/animations that have a story and you develop a storyboard. Your learning website design and development to create something, not just learning programming on its own. If your just thinking of learning programming or "how to do this", you may be better of choosing a short-course at a private institution.

B. Digital Media dropped significantly from last year - I don't think that it will increase too much, unless many people choose it.
