Hey i have a few questions on a Mc question

"European colonization has had an impact on Aboriginal Spirituality, Which of the following is an example of this?"

a) Rainbow Spirit Theology (1997)
b) the use of 'smoking ceremonies' in christian worship
c) the native title act (1993)
d) the council of reconciliation (1991)

I thought it was (B) but i know it isn't because that was a response of christianity integrating aboriginal practices... etc... The answer is (a) but i thought that was just like a dreamtime story thingy. can anyone clarify this up ?

It cant be (b) because thats an impact of aboriginal spirituality on christianity, not the other way around.

yeah the answer is (a).

RAINBOW SPIRIT THEOLOGY: - the cohesion and integration of Aboriginal belief system practices and Christianity.

In specific relation to the question european colonisation brought about the policies of segregation, protection and assimilation which combined resulted in missionisation. missions only allowed for Christianity to be embraced (i.e. all traditional practiced not allowed). the result of this being Aboriginal identification with Christianity. the change to self-determination in the early 1970s (1972?) meant the Aboriginals could now reconnect with their traditional beliefs, but because of the impact of Christianity some sort of integration between the belief systems was needed ... and there comes rainbow spirit theolgy.

from memory, my teacher gave us some handouts from the macquarie revision guide that handled this point quite well.
