which was D for q.5?

i put the one wif the bunsen and filter

the filter is right... i'm pretty sure coz u need to remove the suspended particles first

oh! misinterpretation of the question, i hate that, i thought they meant 2 ways you could measure dissolved solids, not the two things you use to measure it once, hmmm

B for question 13 here, but it was just random between B and D.

And i got D for question 15, and it was just random between A and D. However, i was thinking because the buffer have constant Ka (equilibrium constant), and the acid put will be taken out by the buffer to form a salt, the pH would remain constant until theres no more buffer.

Now now, don't tell me the salt would be acidic?

i dont get why 15 is def D
i said A cos buffers dont change much when acids or bases are added but it doesnt mean it says completely constant, hence the slight curve..

For 15 i put A, after the buffer has been 'overcome', it wouldn't decrease linearly (at least i don't think so), let's wait for phenol or mercury.

personally i think 13 is D.. cuz when u stick a more reactive metal.. it will displace it from its solution.. for example if u stick magnesium into copper sulfate.. it will decolourise and u will see stuff stuck to the magnesium...

therefore by my reasoning D
Q14 is a toss between B and C i think.. i picked C originally.. then changed it to B

i think its focusing on step 1. A burette was rinsed with water and then filled with the standard acid

Also on when he rinsed the conical flask with the alkaline.

Q5 is definitely D because:
1.) you need to filter the water first to get rid of suspended solids (you only want to measure dissolved solids)
2.) you then need to evaporate the water, leaving behind the dissolved solids

Q13 is D because:
1.) metal Z is not displaced by metal X, and is therefore more reactive than X
2) X displaces metal Y and is therefore more reactive than Y
ie Z>X>Y

7 c) Oxides that react with bases are anhydrous oxides, and are non-metals.
13 d) If X were more reactive than Z, it would have displaced it.
14 c) Burette was rinses with water, .'. acid concentration is lower, conical flask is rinsed with base, .'. there is more base in there.

is x the most reactive metal since its more reactive and displaces the ions of a less active metal (Y and Z) and therefore its a??
