My ATAR Marks for next Year (1 Viewer)

Well today I thought I would guess my marks for Yr 12 next year and put them into a HSC to ATAR Calculator, and that's where I started to get scared.

I do the following subjects;

English Standard
Mathematics
Business Studies
Studies Of Religion II
Software Design and Technology

These were my guessed HSC marks for them;

English Standard = 80
Mathematics = 70
Business Studies = 75
Studies Of Religion II = 70
Software Design and Technology = 70

When I put these figures in My ATAR was calculated in at 58.8!!!

Am I missing something here? Aren't the HSC subjects out of 100?

Please help me out and explain how to use these calculators correctly.

You are using them correctly. Remember the ATAR is a rank, not a mark so don't get surprised if there is disparity between your ATAR and actual marks. Your subjects themselves don't scale particularly well and combined with fairly average marks, your ATAR isn't going to be flash.

It sounds plausible that your ATAR is 58.8, because the subjects you've chosen do not scale well.

you need to aim much higher, especially in maths, all it takes is like 30mins a night and you could get 90 in 2unit maths relatively easily

So I can score myself 80 in each subject but still not be good enough to get an ATAR of 75?

you still have time to do well and get around the 85s or 90s =D
just remember to study more but effectively
and you should try to get at least 90 for business studies and maybe SDD so that scaling wont negatively affect your ATAR

thats the way competition works, it all depends on:

1. if you are willing to do the work
2. do you actually need a high ATAR for what you plan to do after hsc

Guys all I'm looking for is a 70 ATAR. I Dont expect much higher then that but also I dont want lower.

Its possible if your marks rise. Lets say aim for 85 in each subject.

As others have stated, by studying effectively you'll reach your end goal.

This years ATAR calculator says Im able to score an ATAR of 85.55 if Im able to get 85 in each subject.

Ok guys, Ill be honest, Im not exactly a hard studier, neither am I the smartest kid in the school but I WILL score an atar of 75, and I WILL try my best.

You guys have given me inspiration haha
