I was wondering if anyone could point me to any texts or examples of ritualistic sacrifice, or punishments similar to the fabricated 'bloody eagle' from the Norse. I don't want things gruesome, just unique that carry some deeper meaning behind them, or another way to present my protagonist as evil and ultimately sinister without it being 'wet', empty and dramatic.
