did anyone watch it? it was quite good. i liked the panel especially with stuart magill and the quite funny judith lucy.

i was surprised by what made it into the top ten but can understand i guess why they were in there. i had seen every1 except star wars and the princess bride.

happy that my fav amiele was on it - although they were kind of ripping it off!

Amelie at no 2? wtf?? I hated that whimsical fairy floss piece of garbage. No Man's Land (the film that won the foreign language oscar over Amelie) was so much better. But no one saw it

Donnie Darko was a nice surprise entry.

Australians have short memory spans. The Lord of the Rings? Great but not the best of all time.

p.s. I loved the Hooley Dooley's rendition of Pulp Fiction

Shawshank Redemption was a great movie, but I was surprised that a lot of people liked it. I'm surprised Roger Rabbit didnt get in, lol. Lord of the Rings is a great movie (love it), but i reckon its only number one due to how recent it has been since the release of the movie.

Don't want to know about any list with Lord of the Rings at no.1 Lousy, unimaginative list. Princess Bride is probably the only (and still rather small) surprise.

Judith Lucy was on the panel? Good that I didn't watch it then. That woman is abysmally unfunny. Thank god Will Anderson took over the Just for Laughs duties.

I can't believe Dead Man made it into the top 100. Worst Jim Jarmusch/Johnny Depp movie ever...

Other than that and one or two others, it's a mind numbingly predictable list. Were David and Margaret on this panel? Were they appalled?

Oh come on, there's no need to be such a pompous highbrow. As a poll voted on by your average movie-going australians, most of whom probably aren't die hard movie aficionados, I say it's a pretty good list.

Sorry I came off that way. It's just disappointing to see such a predictable list.

There are many fantastic films in there, however a lot of them are in really strange positions IMHO. The Princess Bride at no.7, but Citizen Kane at no.92? Australians are weird.

Margaret was on the panel, David wasn't. IIRC she seemed pretty pleased with the list, albeit a bit surprised at some of the entries. The film that got the best reception was probalbly Pulp Fiction, which got an audible gasp from the audience when it was announced.

Yeah, the only one I didn't see coming was The Princess Bride. Hated LOTR at number one though

boo...

how could you single out dead man in a list that has love actually and dirty dancing? it's not my favorite jarmusch, but it is an excellent film and it's placement is a sign of people who appreciate film as art. (or rabid johnny depp/neil young fans...)
