formatting is just like reinstalling windows yeah?

like tommorow all we're doing is backing up files and folders then he's gonna install windows again then put the saved files etc back on....that's wat i understand

but b4 putting back all the files and stuff we're installing antivirus software first just in case.....

woah....u 2 ppl answer like in a click of a finger :)

Ok do the following before doing anything....

Once Windows is installed, Turn on Windows Firewall
Install Microsoft Windows XP SP1A
Install Norton Anti-Virus, update your virus definitions
Once all that's done create a System restore point.

Then restore data, remember to scan all files that's being restored.

ok, i took note of that...thnx

atm on my old comp...syst. restore doesn't even work, it won't even open......
I'm afraid i've got "corrupted" files that won't ever get fixed or smthng!

Where do i find Windows Firewall and Microsoft Wind. XP SP1A???

Everything else i can follow:)
What does creating a syst. restore point do? (does that resore my settings back to that point if smthng goes wrong?)

thnx sooo much

Windows Firewall can be enabled via the Local Area Connection in your Network connections via properties.

Microsoft Windows Service Pack 1 A can be downloadable from www.microsoft.com

Creating a restore point means, saving al the setting you have at the time you make it, because once you've installed all your software and patches, you can save it at that point, so when u back up and something stuffs up, you can restore back to the point where it was functoning fine.

You know, a truely dumb person wouldn't say thanks :p Anyways.. just want to remind you to get a firewall such as ZoneAlarm after you've you computers working again... Also, you could get softwares like Webwasher to help to protect your syster while surfing the Internet. They can be found @ http://www.downloads.com :) good luck!

Heres the solution:

Click on start ----->Turn of computer -----> turn of

Your computer should shut down, now simply go and make a wholesome meal, and watch TV.

Was it really necessary to dig up an eight month old thread and post a rather uncalled for comment?
