yeah, everyone is telling me page wise, but i wanna know word wise...i.e how long should my prepared essay be?

You should be able to write 1000 words in 40 min.
Dont prepare more than 1200, because unless you're a crazy writting machine you'll run out of time to finish well and a strong conclusion is vital.

Another way of looking at it is to write 20 x 50. (20 paragraphs of 50 words)

I have scanned and uploaded the essays I roughly based my responses on for the 2002 HSC Exam. I reckon these are Band 6 responses, since they got me 93 as an exam mark.

You guys should remember... the HSC Writing Booklet lines are massive.. when I compared my school's writing booklets with the HSC ones... one line of the HSC writing booklet could fit two lines of what I wrote in my school's writing booklets. In other words, in the HSC.. I should be able to write double what I can.

In 40 minutes I can write about 4-5 pages.... which should hopefully become 6-8 pages in the HSC writing booklets.
