also to produce a trangenic species, is that similar to cross breeding? or am i on the wrong track?

Well I'm using recombinant E. coli used in the production of human insulin, and I'm pretty sure you need to know how to produce it.

Cross-breeding is artificial selection and it's a bit different.

Look at ethical considerations as well. Cross breeding is natural. Transgenic species isn't and lots of people are opposed to it. It pullutes gene pools, makes species more susceptible to disease, environmental change etc. etc.

Do you mean dogs of different breeds??? because all the breeds of common pet dogs are the same species. Sorry if you mean mongrel dogs of different species such as offspring of household dogs and say, wolves, If that is the case then i misinterpreted you...

Yeah...I thought dogs weren't an example
