Knowledge Touring & Niche Productions Proudly Present Nas + Chali 2Na + Qbert & MC Supernatural
SAT 31 OCT @ 8:00PM at Enmore Theatre
Nas - the undisputed king of east coast hip hop, unlike so many of his contemporaries that reached real success, has maintained a street level, tru school consciousness, while at the same time reaching the pinnacle of global hip hop stardom. Beginning with his classic debut, Illmatic (1994), Nas stood tall for years as one of New York City’s leading rap voices, outspokenly expressing a righteous, self-empowered presence that endeared him to critics and hip-hop purists.
Bearing an identifiably deep baritone voice, Chali 2na (born Charles Stewart, Jr.) became the unofficial point man for West Coast hip hop legends Jurassic 5. Originally from southside Chicago, Chali first gained an interest in graffiti writing before getting into music.
Before Jurassic 5 fully took off, Chali 2na and Cut Chemist also helped found the band Ozomatli, whose music was a fusion of worldbeat, rock, hip-hop, and Latin dance/funk. As part of two critically acclaimed ensembles, Chali 2na sent waves in the music world with each of their debuts. His solo foray began in 2004 with his Fish Market mixtapes, and his long awaited solo debut Fish Outta Water promises to mark the final stage in Chali’s creative evolution, bringing together a diverse range of influences and collaborators including Damien Marley, Beenie Man, Anthony Hamilton and the late great J Dilla.
Qbert and MC Supernatural are the undisputed kings of elemental hip hop. Qbert’s involvement in seminal DMC team champions the Invisbl Sqratch Piklz positioned him as the world’s most respected hip hop DJ when he was banned from competing in the DMC championships as a result of 3 consecutive. Witness the world’s #1 Turntabalist DJ Qbert and 2 x US Freestyle Battle champion MC Supernatural as they tear up the stage in a freestyle battle to the death. The enormous contribution that these artists have made to hop hop culture and music world wide is unsurpassed and their combined performance prowess are a tru skool tour de force. Their freestyle battle set (rarely seen outside of the USA) is a combined performance that pits Q and Supernat against each others, head to head in a freestyle battle, to the death… and remember, its man versus machine.
Don’t miss, what will be an unforgettable night!
Fuck yessssss! Missed nas last time, so pumped for this
