i'm writing a report for some chem profolio on the environmental effect of the presence of phosphate in detergents.

I need to include some kinda equation, and i was wondering if anyone has any idea on how the phosphorus gets absorbed by the algea from the "builders" (eg Sodium Tripolyphosphate). i'm hoping to find an equation which represents the dissociation of the Sodium Tripolyphosphate in the water, into phosphorus to be taken up by the algea...

any help would be much apreciated

Check in a textbook like Spotlight Chemistry. That book goes through all of the practicals that we have to do in class I believe. I don't have one anymore so I can't check it up for you myself sorry.
