1. NaOH(aq) + Cl2O(g) ----> H2O(l) +
What would be the other product(s)?

2. 1.00L of air at 25 degrees celsius and standard atmosperic pressure contains 0.041 moles of gas. If the concentrations of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide in this air are 360ppm and 0.02ppm respectively, what would be their concentrations in moles per litre?

1. 2NaOH(aq) + Cl2O(g) ----> H2O(l) + 2NaCl + O2 - i'm assuming the reaction does take place lol

2. 360ppm = 360mg/L = 0.360g/L
0.360/(12.01 + 16.00x2) = 8.180 x 10^-3
hence conc of CO2 = 8.180 x 10^-3 mol/L

0.02ppm = 0.02 mg/L = 0.00002g/L
0.00002/(32.07 + 16.00x2) = 3.122 x 10^-7
hence conc of SO2 = 3.122 x 10^-7 mol/L

Supposedly when an acidic oxide reacts with a base, the product is a salt - I would imagine it would be NaCl in this case.

Thanks

Isn't ppm=particle per million?
How is it equal to mg/L?

We're assuming that 1 g = 1 mL.

So 1 L = 1 kg.

1 kg contains 1000 g, and 1000 g contains 1000 mg.

.: 1 kg contains 1 000 000 mg.
