Can anyone please xplain how I would solve the two following equations, WITHOUT using a calculator.

x-3
2 = 1/32

and

x 2 - 2x
9 = 27

Ok, that didn't work too well. In the first equation, 2 is raised to the power of x-3
and in the second equation 9 is raised to the power of x, and 27 is raised to the power of 2-2x.

what the... is it 2^x-3 = 1/32?

if so... 1/32 can b written as 2^-5...

so 2^x-3 = 2^-5

now the bases are the same.. so dont worry about them

x-3 = -5
x= -2

so u try the 2nd one.. JUST REMMEBER THAT THE BASES MUST BE EQUAL.. then u can solve it easily..
cya!

Solution for second one:

9x = 272-2x

(32)x = (33)2-2x

32x = 36-6x

2x = 6 - 6x

8x = 6

x = 3/4
