Wow that's some question eh? Here's mine. I go to UNSW.

Mechatronic Engineering
Mechatronic Engineering is the hybrid discipline of mechanics, electronics and computing. It describes a new concept in the world of making the value added products. In the past, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and computer engineers needed to co-operate to develop a product from concept to customer. Industry now needs a skilled engineer who can manage all three disciplines simultaneously, especially at the design stage to crease "intelligent machines", e.g. cameras, robots, washing machines, etc., the demand for which is continually increasing.

Mechatronic Engineers are often involved in work at the cutting edge of technology and so the work is challenging and exciting. Many machines can have their performance enhanced by making them mechatronic. Machines designed and manufacturing in Australia, such as washing machines and dishwashers, automotive engines and automatic transmissions, as well as numerous machines used for production and in agriculture, have a significant mechatronics component. Thus, the career prospects for Mechatronic Engineers are excellent.

Years 3 and 4 of Mechatronic Engineering are mainly devoted to specialist mechatronic subjects in Computing and Control. In fourth year a personal thesis project is undertaken under the supervision of a member of staff.

Mechatronic Engineering is the second most popular of the Schools five undergraduate degrees.

Want to make money? Want to be the CEO of billion dollar companies like AT&T?

do telecommunications engineering.
You don't even have to choose specialisation until 3rd year.

and UOW is the way to go, it is easily top 2 in australia for it.

If your chinese is good, you can take advantage of china's growing market and cash in.

Want to be able to know tommorrow why yesterday's financial predicitions didn't happen today?
Want to know how government decisons will really affect you?
Want a degree which you can use to get into nearly any cushy government department job?
Or do you want to sell your soul to a bank and predict the financial future of the world?

If you like science consider Earth and marine science, Cool feild trips, lots of time in the outdoors, and you can make huge money by selling your soul to exploration companies and looking for resources in natural parks and unstable eco systems... [/serious bit]

OR

want to serve products such as hamburgers and fried chicken?
And master the use of the statement "would you like fries with that"
then choose Arts! its a clear winner

It's pretty much everything of what economics is about... Finding out tommorrow why the predictions you made yesterday didn't happen today. :D That and supply and demand.... that's economics in a nutshell.

lol I got it and it was a very nicely articulated statement too :D

The punchline for law seems to be 'you know you want it' and while I think its awesome be warned: I talked to a girl today who is dropping it for her straight commerce degree, because she chose it because she 'got the marks' not because she ever had any interest in the subject. Alot of people studying law say they hate it, so make sure it is what you want to do before you choose it!

do arts if:
* you want to become a well-rounded individual
* you don't know what else to do

do visual arts and graphic design if you:
*would like to relive your childhood (i.e. cut'n'paste, arranging geometric shapes, it's sooo fun!)
*need a valid excuse to act in a strange and unconventional manner
*like to think outside the square
*want to influence people using visual language

Arts is cool if you're really unsure where you want to head. You can pick whatever subjects take your fancy.

Media+Communications incorporates digital media, web design, writing, etc and generally lets you be creative.

Arts (Enviromental & Resource Studies) is great if like to expand that little bit of 'greeness' in you or want a degree in industry such as Timber, Mining, Farming, Energy and Water, Government Policy etc. Oh and you get to share lectures with people who are Greenies, not the politcal party but those people who smell like they don't shower and wish that they all lived in trees... almost as bad as some of the gender studies students. :D
