Hey guys

Im hoping to do UTS engineering civil or structural next year

but the problem is i think im gunna fall short of the cut-mark,say i think im getting around 75
im also getting 6 bonus points from my subjects

I heard that some Uni's accept people below the cut -off sometimes, is that true?

Also to what extent does the questionnaire help your chances of getting in.

And if i dont make it in, and i attend an uni like UWS and i transfer to UTS, Does the time i studied in UWS count or is it just like me repeating a year?

thats about it for now =]

thanks in advance

Some Unis do accept people that score a UAI just under the cut-off, but I don't like your chances. If you don't make it into UTS, go to UWS and transfer. Remember though, you've got to achieve pretty good marks to be able to transfer out of UWS and into UTS. Also, the years you studied at UWS do count, but I'm not sure about the conversion as each course is different.

yes some uni's do take you if you are under the mark, but they are only the desperate ones, that are looking for students. i doubt uts would be like that. just study harder.

Currently the UAI for an engineering course is 85 points.

You can increase your points by doing a number of things:

1. Doing subjects such as:
  • Engineering studies;
  • Industrial Technology;
  • Information Processes and Technology;
  • Information Technology;
  • Physics;
  • Chemistry;
  • Software Design and Development;
  • English Advanced, Extension 1 or Extension 2; and
  • Mathematics Extension 1 or Extension 2
Will earn you 2 additional UAI points each. Up to a limit of 6.

2. Undertaking the engineering questionare will earn you an additional number of points.

Most importantly, please check this website for more information. Hope this helps.
