Need some clarification regarding min UoC per semester (1 Viewer)

Hi, I'm currently doing a Commerce degree. For the coming semester, instead of the usual 4 I am thinking of taking 2 instead as I have a part time job I'm trying out and don't think it is wise to do 4 subjects.

Is it ok/normal to do this? I have heard someone say the minimum I can do is 3 subjects (18 UoC) but in the course outline it states minimum UoC is 3 units but I am not 100% sure. I also know this means I either need to do extra summer courses or an extra semester, which I'm willing to do.

Can anyone help clarify if this ok? Thanks in advance.

Study Load
The total number of units of credit (UoC) taken in a semester. A full-time load at UNSW is 18 or more UoC per semester (a standard full-time load is 24).

If you drop to 12 UOC, the system will recognise that as a part time load.

You will also become ineligible for an Opal concession card (you might have it physically, but you won't be able to use it).

I see. So if I do 2 subjects this semester will I be able to do so without requiring any special approval from my faculty or applications needed to be filled (as I understand overloading needs this but I am not sure about doing less subjects) and I will not receive the benefits of a full-time student?

And for my next semester in the second half of the year I can normally take up a min 18UoC to become a student with a full-time schedule (i.e. regain the benefits of a full-time student)?

Study Load: Reduced Normal and Overload
The standard full-time enrolment load at UNSW is 24 units of credit (UOC) per semester (Semester 1 and 2) however you are considered to be a full-time student if you are enrolled in at least 18 UOC. Please note, if you are an International Student you must be enrolled in 24 units of credit each semester. A maximum of 18 units of credit is permitted for Summer Term for programs under the authority of the Faculty of Science. Students with external commitments, such as part-time employment in excess of ten hours per week, should take less than a normal load in the relevant session. The standard full-time enrolment load can be exceeded only in exceptional circumstances by students with an excellent Academic Record and requires the permission of the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs). Students wishing to overload must complete and lodge the Application to Overload Form at the Science Student Centre before the deadline to add courses for the relevant teaching period. If you decide you do not wish to proceed with the overload please ensure you withdraw from the course prior to the relevant specified withdrawal date (see Key dates).

Basically no laws regarding underloading (You could confirm with your faculty). Under 18UOC/Semester= not eligible for concession benefits. From what I understand it goes by a Semester basis (as one of my friends did that last year). Maybe double check just in case (with FM Assist)
