Certain versions of Windows can only set aside 133GB or so of the hard disk as primary partition. You need either to format it after you install Windows as a secondary partition or use a RAID controller to overcome the limit.

If you're running Windows XP, then you need to upgrade to Service Pack 1, which I think will solve the problem. You'll also need to update your BIOS drivers (a bit of a risky process) to support the extended capacity. I'm not sure if there's a solution (outside repartioning the hard drive) for older versions of Windows.

The other 120 GBs still exists, it's just that Windows can't recognise it. This is a problem with FAT32, Windows 98's disk managing system - it can only "see" a maximum of 127 GB. Still, it was big improvement on its predecessor's 2 GB max, I guess.

If there is a limit, I don't think it's been reached yet. 400 GB + and counting.

What OS (98, ME, XP) are you using? What file system are you using (FAT32, NTFS)?

as i ask'd above,
do you have service pack 2 ?

if not, you need it in order for your windows to be able to recognise the other 120gb, as said above.

if, for some reason you can't upgrade to sp2 (i.e; illegal copy of windows), then i have no idea what you can do besides proberly purchasing your own copy of winxp (new ones comes with sp2 already)

Use a RAID controller.

Check the manufacturer's website.
Fairly recently, I put in a 200GB HDD and had to install a patch for windows (XP) to recognise the whole lot.
