Question to you: wait and see if the new aluminium MacBooks will really be released on 14th October, or just get the current model? Sources below (a bit of old news for some people, fresh news to me, and lucky I tread upon them otherwise I might be kicking my ass for not waiting):

From http://www.slashgear.com/apple-macbook-event-october-14th-rumored-1015811/, Wednesday September 10th

While the Apple Let’s Rock event yesterday may have brought joy to anybody looking at buying a new iPod, those hoping for a surprise computing announcement to round out the show will have gone home disappointed. That, according to Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, was all part of the Apple plan, however; he quotes sources “familiar with Apple’s hardware plans” who say the company is planning an event on October 14th specifically dealing with new MacBooks.
“Such speculation was misguided; Apple has held an iPod/music special event in September or October every year since 2001, and, to my knowledge, has never once used such events to announce new Mac hardware. Those of you holding out for a new lineup of MacBooks will have to wait until October 14, according to sources who, as they say, are familiar with Apple’s hardware plans” John Gruber, Daring Fireball
While there are no specific details as to what the company might have planned for October 14th, rumors about impending MacBook and MacBook Pro updates have been circulating for some time now. Among the possibilities raised so far include a large, multitouch glass trackpad and a one-piece aluminium case. It’s also been suggested that the MacBook Air will get an update to an Intel Penryn-series processor, while the new iPod classic 120GB hard-drive could easily be transplanted to Apple’s ultraportable.
Invitations to Apple events tend to only go out no more than two weeks before the show itself, so the possibility of something on October 14th that we’ve not yet heard about is high. It also tallies with Apple’s suggestion to retailers that they should stock up on certain models as availability could be limited.
From http://www.appleinsider.com/article...book_shipments_begin_ahead_of_sharp_ramp.html Monday September 15th

The first shipments of Apple's next-generation 13-inch MacBooks have left China ahead of a large-scale manufacturing ramp scheduled for later this month, according to investment bank Citigroup.

In a "Company Flash" bulletin issued to clients on Monday, analyst Rich Gardner said he expects the Cupertino-based Mac maker to introduce its fall line of notebooks "within weeks."

"Field checks confirm that shipments of new MacBooks have begun, with a sharp production ramp planned for September and an introduction planned for early October," he wrote. "The most distinctive features of the new MacBook appear to be a very thin aluminum casing, an LED-backlit display and an aggressive entry-level price point."
I'd post the pictures but I can't find them. I'll edit this page when I do find the link.
