as all you optus cable users know , that your current 128 kbps uploads can be frustrating at times.

new plans are wierd though.

I'm on Optus ADSL 512/128.. personally uploading isn't a huge issue because I rarely upload.. (haven't been gaming online much either lately), but yes, nice to know.

just read that DSL users also get new plans. check them out if you want.

from what i read. You can stay with your current plan, but if you want to change to the new plans you lose free months.

also new offpeak times are between 12 am to 12 pm. thats compared to the old 2 am to 9 am.

I just got the email from optusnet, awesome news. I dont really care about the upload speed as much as the 12am-12pm offpeak period.

We're pleased to announce that your Optus Broadband Cable plan benefits are now even better!

On the 'yes' Unlimited Plan you currently receive 24GB of bonus data to use from 2am - 9am everyday. From 16th November 2005, 'yes' data time will be extended from 12 midnight to12 midday everyday so you will now have even longer to enjoy your bonus data allocation.

You will also experience a faster upload speed of 256K so you can enjoy faster file and data sharing whilst online. Your increased upload speed applies to your account all day, every day.

The good news is that not only are these offers now permanent but you won't need to do a thing to enjoy them. These benefits have automatically been applied to your account so you can continue to use your bonus data allocation for even longer with faster upload speeds!

I am on the Optus lite cable 1gig plan + home phone bundle.

1gig is def. not enough! I like the looks of the Sprint Uncapped/128kbps 2GB 2GB peak + 4GB off-peak $49.95 $39.95 ...

How do I change? And is there some catch I am missing because I think I now pay like $50??

Cheers,
Ac

I'm currently on the TPG 1536/256 ADSL connection with a 25gb limit for $70 a month. For once, Optus ADSL connections actually look decently priced in comparison, it's a pity I can't get cable though...

I was on the 1536/256 with 20gb limit for $49.95 which I joined in January on a 12 month contract, then last month they sent us an email informing us that our contract was over since we were only on a 6 month contract (which I'm still not sure how thats come about, but we don't have a copy of the contract so there wasn't much we could do about it) and as such we had to change plans or it would be changed to the one I mentioned above by default. At the time though, that was still about the same value as anywhere else on the market for our purposes since ADSL2 and 2+ isnt available in my area yet.

telstra has the adsl 2 coming up that offers like 12mbps downloads. Optus capped their adsl2 to only 1.5 mb . i think Telstra is doing sometihng else aswell

no you dont. However. if you have offpeak data left and you go over your peak data, then you lose all your offpeak data and get capped to 28/64k depending on your plan

you can call them up to change. However you will loce all your free months , if u have any. From that email i gather, that they will still give you longer off peak times, and higher uplaods on certain plans, however if you want to switch to the new plans , you will lose your previous offer.

yeh you should defenitly change.
ide say if your bundled ( homephone , and net ) i think you can get 7 + 14 gigs for $49

in my opinion telstras cable plans where always inferior. They had smaller limits, and uploads counted towastd downloads. I think optus is much more better for a person with cable.
